The scholar athlete awards dinner begins each December when the Selection Chairman sends out letters to the coaches and Athletic Directors of the chapter's 33 member schools asking if they have any senior student athlete candidates who played football, excelled in the classroom and is involved in their community to be considered for the scholar athlete honor.
